2002 — presentMore of the work

A partial list. Some sites are still running; some retired with their owners. All of them were small projects done one at a time.

— Film & documentary

— Authors & artists

  • Archer Mayor
  • Shelley Warren Studio
Sculptor. Retired from her studio and from teaching.
  • Moosewalk Studios & Gallery
Gary Eckhart’s watercolors and Roarke Sharlow’s photography. A long relationship that ended with Gary’s passing.
  • YozellPhoto
  • Bell Family History

— Business & professional

— Food & hospitality

  • Hyde Away Inn & Restaurant
The first site of the practice — built before Downhill Media existed, still running.
  • Pizza in the Valley
  • EspressoLuv Coffee Roasters
  • Coffee Source
  • Le Bistro du Lac
Twenty-plus years on Lake Champlain, until the owners retired.

— Around the world

  • Wisdom Tours
  • Wisdom Study Abroad
Jim Hagan ran study-abroad programs in Tibetan Buddhist Asia for twenty years. We built and rebuilt the sites that carried students there. He’s retired now.

Long relationships, mostly. I was glad to do the work.

— The approach

Built once. Rebuilt when it’s time.

Websites are working tools, not monuments. The goal is a site that does its job quietly for a long time — legible, updatable, and honest about what it is.

I handle the whole thing: design, development, the writing when it helps, and the quiet years afterward. Most clients are still with me a decade later; some closer to two.

Design

Mobile-first. Built by hand.

Development

Custom code. No page builder bloat.

Writing & editing

Copy that sounds like you, optimized for search and AI.

Ongoing care

Updates, refreshes, rebuilds.
